Podcasts are easy to consume content and typically do not require the listener’s undivided attention like video or text-based content does. Along with the ability to become a welcomed guest into your listeners home or office via podcasts, you now have the ability to inform, educate and in some cases entertain your audience with topics relating to your business.

Here are five reasons why I believe you should start podcasting for your business, today:

1. People really like podcasts

According to recent studies, podcasting continues to show exponential growth year after year.  And let’s face it, there are thousands if not millions of brands and businesses vying for audience attention on the internet. Using the traditional and plain old tricks of content marketing may not work all the time. You’ve got to do something different. By talking directly to your audience, podcasts help you connect with your audience on a much more deep and intimate level and people love it!

2. Not everybody has time to read 3,500 words

On the average, blog post contain 600 + words, which takes about 6-7 minutes to read.  While podcast on average runs 30-40 minutes which translates to an average of 3,500 words or the equivalent of 6 blog posts.  Podcasting allows you to deliver much more content in a much easier way to consume.

 3. Consistency – Podcasts are much easier to produce consistently than video and blog posts

Consistency is the secret to effective marketing. Because podcasts are much easier to produce consistently, it will not only bring your brand closer to your audience, but it will also bring brand recognition. Remember, brand recognition is not just about getting your name out there, it’s about getting your consumers to know your brand on a more personal level.

Consistency makes your brand feel more dependable and consumers trust brands they recognize.

4. Podcasts Build Loyalty and Trust

Podcasts are a two-way street. You can share your ideas with your audience, and they can give you immediate feedback. You can review products and services. You can invite experts, employees, vendors and even customers to be a guest on your “show.” Podcasting is a great way to gain insight and feedback as well as gain loyalty and trust from your audience.

5. Distribution

Not only can you broadcast your podcasts on your website, blog or social media, but you can also reach a global audience through services like iTunes, Stitcher and SoundCloud.

In Conclusion

Despite all the benefits and ease of podcasting, very few small businesses are podcasting. Take cues from the experts who are doing it right. So many of the major brands out there have a podcast becuase they know the power of communicating directly to their audience. So give your business a voice and start a podcast for your business!
